In China more and more children are being required to learn English. However this is easier said than done in many of the poor rural areas. Very close to Yangshuo there are several small village schools where the teachers do their best, but lack resources. During your trip to Yangshuo you will have an opportunity to visit a village school where you can speak with the children.

Learning to speak and listen to foreigners is the hardest thing for the children. They rarely, if ever have the opportunity to do this.
