Yangshou is a must-see for Australian travelers. If you have seen willow plates
and movies of the Li river, you will have some sense of the grandeur
and beauty of this place. But it has great charm and is a great base to
visit a wide range of sights and experiences without the barriers like
communication and food. Yangshou is a place where Westerners are
catered for and the travelling is easy. We met many wonderful people
and had fantastic fun! We met Jeanie Hore in the main street of
Yangshou and she delighted us with amazing stories, took us to fabulous
restaurants, explained local points of interest and generally made sure
we had the most memorable trip possible. She exudes such warmth and
care, and made us laugh so much, that we have maintained our
friendship over the years.

Whom It May Concern
My wife and I had been travelling in China for a week and feeling
absolutely lost and confused by the Chinese mentality. Naturally, we we
surprised to see a western face and stopped to say hello. That face
belonged to Jeanie Hore. An old friend whom we had not seen for 30
years!
Jeanie, having lived and taught in China for several years, was a
life saver for us. She was able to tell us about passport regulations;
where to buy western food; how to catch buses; which sites to visit;
how to book accommodation; use of banking facilities and the protocol
of haggling. Mostly, she came with us to ensure that all transactions
went smoothly.
Jeanie invited us to visit small country villages and brought
along a few of her local students to act as guides, (as well as
practice their English). In fact, we made several tours with Jeanie as
the experiences were so enjoyable and unique. She knew which
festivities were being celebrated and where. We visited many areas that
tourists rarely know about. When we walked, it was leisurely, and the
food was excellent.
If you are lucky enough to visit an area where Jeanie operates,
certainly give her a call. Angela and I know you won't be disappointed.
